But every technology has its shortcomings and Bluetooth may have a few issues that can be easily solved too. To begin with, let us get the basics straight and the most obvious things sorted. Bluetooth is a technology that allows you to connect two devices wirelessly so that data and information can flow between the two devices. An important step to connect the devices is known as pairing. When you pair the Bluetooth devices successfullydata can be transferred easily from one to another.
But if the pairing is unsuccessful or you are not able to pair the devices, then there is a problem with either the hardware or software of any of the two devices. An important thing to realize is that your phone or the device you are going to pair it with is not always in pairing mode. Let us take the example of connecting a headset to your phone using Bluetooth. You have to make sure that the headset is in the mode where it can be paired.
That is, your headset should be in pairing mode. And your phone should be ready to scan the Bluetooth devices around it. This is the most obvious and the very basic step to pair two Bluetooth devices. So when you are going to use Bluetooth to pair your phone with another device, make sure that Bluetooth is enabled on your smartphone and in the device you want to pair with your phone. With the obvious out of the way, we can now concentrate on troubleshooting steps that will help you fix problems even after you have tried establishing a Bluetooth connection by switching on Bluetooth in both the devices.
If the Bluetooth connection could not be established or if you fail to pair two devices then the first and the most basic step of troubleshooting is to toggle the Bluetooth connection. Pull down the notification shade of your phone and look for the Bluetooth icon. Switch Off the Bluetooth connection, wait for 10 seconds and switch it On once again.Scotts grub b gon max reviews
Now try to check if the phone is able to pair with the Bluetooth device or not. Before we begin troubleshooting the phone or the tablet, it is important to rule out the fact that the device is not the cause of the problem. To check if the device is working or not, connect it to another device like a different phone or a laptop and check if it works properly on the other devices.
If the Bluetooth device is working fine on other phones or tablets then the problem lies in your phone and further troubleshooting should be done on the phone.
But if the device does not connect on a different phone or another device either then the problem lies with the device and you may have to follow the device manual for troubleshooting the device or you must take it to the manufacturer to get it checked or replaced.
Begin with restarting your phone. A restart fixes simple errors and helps your phone start afresh. Switch on Bluetooth by pulling down the notification shade of your phone and tapping on the Bluetooth icon after your phone restarts. Make sure that the device is in pairing mode. Keep it close to your phone and give your phone some time to scan all the nearby devices.
If the connection is successful and the pairing works, then the problem is fixed, but if the problem persists, try restarting the device you are trying to connect.Visit our Blog to catch up on the latest Community news, tips for your Samsung products and much more! The Future changes shape! Meet the new Samsung smartphone! I've just bout a reconditioned Galaxy S7, to replace my Galaxy S6.
The problem I have is that it will not connect to my Sony Car stereo, it won't even discover it. The S6 connects no problem.
I have updated the S7, I've only had it a day, but that has made no difference. I've also force closed the Bluetooth, and cleared the data, then restarted, no difference. I've also cleared the cache partition, with no difference. Can't see the point in resetting the phone, as it literally has just been reset, and is only a day into use. Is this a issue that can't be solved? I would like to know, instead of going on a goose chase, changing settings, downloading apps, etc As, I'll just take the thing back, and get a phone that can work with Bluetooth, which is essential to my job.
Go to Solution. Ok, so I've remedied this. Wasn't sure about compatibility, or even how to find that out. Anyways, I figured the only thing that I could do, was check the stereo. Went thru the settings, no joy. So, the only thing I had left was to pull the radio out, and disconnect it, entirely from the power.
Left it for 30mins, just to be sure it was dead. Reconnected, and it discovered it, and connected with no issue. Its a little slower than the S6, but I can live with it. Hope this helps someone, people hardly ever post the solution, when they find it. View solution in original post. So as head units ship with native Bluetooth functionality in ever-increasing numbers, the problem of Bluetooth devices refusing to connect is something that more and more people are going to have to deal with on a daily basis. Before you investigate further, it's always a good idea to restart any devices acting up. If it's still acting up, here's what is still likely causing you problems:.
While Bluetooth is supposed to be cross-compatible in most circumstances, reality often differs from an idealized hypothetical. So it's actually pretty easy to run into situations where devices that employ different versions of the standard refuse to play nice with each other. The good news is that newer versions of Bluetooth are designed to work with all older versions of Bluetooth, so the fact that car radios tend to lag behind other consumer electronics usually isn't a problem.
Even though there's a good chance that your head unit uses a much older version of Bluetooth than your phone, they should technically still work together in most circumstances. One notable exception is when one device uses something called "Bluetooth Smart," since these devices can only pair with devices that are Bluetooth Smart compatible.

So if you have two devices that straight up refuse to connect, it's a good idea to do some research into whether they are actually compatible. Bluetooth devices will typically remain paired, although with increasingly poor functionality, at distances of about 30 feet, depending on obstructions.
They tend to work better when closer together, and with less obstructions between them, but proximity is particularly important when it comes to pairing. So if your phone refuses to connect your car radio via Bluetooth, and you have it stashed away somewhere, you can try pulling it out removing any obstructions between the two devices. Or you can stick it in a dash-mounted holder for easy access and cut off future pairing woes at the pass.
With that in mind, some phones and other devices are designed to enter a power-saving mode when battery life is low, which will shut off the Bluetooth radio. You may be able to simply turn Bluetooth back on manually to get around this, or you may find that charging one or both of your devices is the only way to get them to pair correctly. In any case, it's a good idea to make sure your devices are fully charged, or plugged into power, if you're having trouble getting them to connect.
Pairing a phone with a head unit, earpiece, or car kit is typically pretty easy, but the exact process can vary from one situation to another. When pairing a phone to a head unit, you typically have to make one or both of them discoverabledepending on how each one is set up.
